Data protection notice & possibility of objection
Regardless of whether you use etracker analytics in the standard version without cookies or in the hybrid version with cookies, the use of etracker must be indicated in your privacy policy in order to comply with the requirements of the GDPR regarding the legal basis of legitimate interest (Art. 6 para. 1f). Because only then can you waive your consent for tracking.
Even if you can waive consent for tracking, according to Art. 21 para. 1 GDPR the possibility to object. It states: “The data subject shall have the right to object, on grounds relating to his or her particular situation, at any time to processing of personal data concerning him or her which is based on point (e) or (f) of Article 6(1);(…)”
etracker provides a sample text including the option to object, which you can easily incorporate into your privacy policy. You can find the text directly in your etracker account. Log in and go to: Settings → Data protection → Data protection notice and objection option.
The user can use the slider to exercise their right to object to exclusion from the count. By default, the slider is set so that the visit data is included in the count.
If the user presses the slider, the slider changes and the exclusion takes place from the next page view:
Warum wird der Schieberegler nicht immer angezeigt?
If the slider is not displayed after inserting the opt-out option provided by us, please check whether the etracker code is correctly implemented on the relevant page.
If this is the case and the slider is not displayed or cannot be operated, tracking has not taken place. The reasons for this are:
- Adblocker or other addons such as Ghostery
- DNT setting in the browser
- Security settings in the browser profile (Firefox and Edge in particular)
- Java scripts are blocked by the browser
- Other (physical) blockers
In addition to the slider provided, you can also customize the counting exclusion. This is particularly useful if you want to customize the slider or button more closely to your web design or if you want to offer other language variants in addition to German and English. You can find the instructions for this at: https://www.etracker.com/docs/integration-setup/einstellungen-accounts/zaehlungsausschluss/
